The Steelers won by a score of 34-12, now moving to 6-4 on the season. The Bengals won the coin toss and deferred, and the Steelers made an effort to get DK Metcalf involved early. He had a short catch to open the game, then caught a 17-yard pass a few plays later. Jaylen Warren ripped off a 35-yard run to put the Steelers in the red zone. There weren't many bright spots from the Steelers' loss to the Chicago Bears. However, T.J. Watt made a huge play when he sacked Caleb Williams and forced the ball out of his hands. The Steelers scored a touchdown on that play, and it gave them a lot of momentum. It also allowed Watt to pass his brother, J.J. Watt, on the all-time sack leaders list. The Indianapolis Colts have been a historically good scoring offense while the Steelers are proving to be a historically bad defense in terms of franchise history. What could go wrong? Perhaps back-to-back disappointing games have finally awoken the latent beast that everybody thought was there on Pittsburgh's defense. The Bills have surprisingly had struggles with downfield passing this season, much like the Steelers. If the Steelers want to take advantage of Buffalo's backup tackles, they have to stop the run. Pittsburgh will also have issues on its offensive line with Broderick Jones on IR and likely out for the season. Coming over via trade, he played all but one snap and held his own. He even helped make some plays, including a third-down stop and a run stop. It remains to be seen whether Kyle Dugger will be the Steelers" every-down safety, as they worked with a M.A.S.H. unit this week. With DeShon Elliott on IR, Chuck Clark and Jabrill Peppers ill, and Juan Thornhill jogging, they needed bodies. They even moved Jalen Ramsey to safety, where he played nearly the entire game. The Steelers have an 0-2 record in primetime games entering this evening. They typically struggle in West Coast games, but they rarely do this poorly under the lights. While it's technically an away game, expect a dominant presence from Steeler Nation at SoFi Stadium. The matchup dominating the headlines has been the Chargers' offensive line versus the Steelers' pass rush. But if one Steelers player was consistently bad in yesterday's loss to the Bears, it was him. Okay, he did fine as a holder on Christ Boswell's four extra points, I'll grant him that. But when it came to his primary job, he had maybe the worst game of his career. The first time Waitman punted, he boomed a 54-yarder down to the 10-yard line. 2+ week, 5+ day ago (257+ words) Player: S Juan Thornhill Thornhill's demise in Pittsburgh isn't entirely his fault. When the Steelers signed him, he wasn't supposed to have that big of a role. They had Minkah Fitzpatrick and DeShon Elliott at safety; currently, they have neither. The Steelers traded Fitzpatrick for Ramsey, and Elliott is likely out for the season due to injury. But even without Fitzpatrick and Elliott, the Steelers still chose not to play Juan Thornhill recently. In fact, they chose not to play him with Chuck Clark and Jabrill Peppers also down.
