Trailer: Netflix to debut new college football show titled "SEC Football: Any Given Saturday"
4+ mon, 2+ week ago (200+ words) Jul 14, 2025 " 2 hours ago Maybe it's just me, but it certainly seems that over the last several decades that every new sports show that comes out is chasing the standard that had been set by HBO's Hard Knocks. Plenty have tried, from Amazon to NBC, but no other show has captured the same All-Access feel and wide appeal as Hard Knocks, which continues to be hit nearly 25 years after the first one featuring the Baltimore Ravens aired back in 2001. Streaming giant Netflix is the latest with an attempt to grab a piece of the pie with a show centering on SEC football called Any Given Saturday. The new series is set to offer an exclusive look at key matchups throughout the season, and boasts to bear "witness the unparalleled pressure, commitment, and raw emotion it takes to be a Division I…...
College Sports Commission releases first report on NIL deals
2+ mon, 3+ week ago (184+ words) Sep 4, 2025 " 37 minutes ago When College Sports Commission was initially created, the number we were told of collective-created NIL deals that would have been approved was around 30 percent." A couple months into this new era of the House settlement, the CSC and its Deloitte-run NIL Go system -- "guardrails," in other words -- the actual number is closer to 96 percent. The most common reasons for denial, per the CSC, are: - Delay in attesting to or providing required information- Contradictory deal terms, misreporting of deal terms and/or mistakes made in entering deal terms- Deal does not satisfy valid business purpose requirement In total, 28,342 student-athletes have created accounts within the NIL Go system, 1,227 "institutional users" have joined, and 3,160 representatives and agents. The largest deal approved by NIL Go thus far was worth $1.6 million. Nearly $80 million has been "legally" transferred from businesses to student-athletes." While…...
The highest-paid high school football coaches in Dallas-Fort Worth
1+ mon, 4+ week ago (106+ words) Bob Booth/Special to the Star-Telegram Oct 1, 2025 " an hour ago Tired: High school football coaches in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex make a lot of money. Wired: Most of them are still underpaid. The Texas high school football reason runs from August to early November or the final Saturday before Christmas, depending on how far you advance in the playoffs, but the job never stops. Many of these men (most?) also have duties overseeing the other sports on campus, making their winter and their spring somehow busier than their fall. But it's more than that." (All salaries rounded to the nearest thousand.)...
SEC reportedly sets each team's three annual opponents
2+ mon, 1+ week ago (177+ words) Sep 22, 2025 " 23 minutes ago With a 9-game conference schedule coming in 2026, the SEC is set to announce each team's three annual opponents on Tuesday." However, on Monday On3's Chris Low revealed the list, which can be seen as below. As a reminder, the 3-6 format will see each team play three opponents annually (more on that below), and rotate through the remaining 12 schools every two years. This will allow each team to play on all 15 opposing campuses once every four years." It's important to note that these are annual"opponents, not permanent"ones. The conference is reserving the right to juggle the matchups every four years. The conference will also announce each team's full set of SEC opponents in Tuesday night's show, airing 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network and ESPN2. While dates of games will not be revealed, the conference will reveal each team's…...
NCAA steps closer to major Transfer Portal change
1+ mon, 3+ week ago (491+ words) Oct 7, 2025 " an hour ago A single NCAA Transfer Portal Window is hours away from formal adoption." Late Tuesday afternoon, the NCAA's DI Administrative Committee approved the "notification of transfer window dates for DI football." It faces one more vote in Wednesday, again considered a mere formality, to be finalized upon conclusion of meetings at close of business Wednesday. Those dates, Jan. 2 through Jan. 16, 2026, were found as a compromise following an initial NCAA proposal"that would have reduced the Transfer Portal in football from its 30 total days across two separate windows in 2024-25 to just Jan. 2-11, 2026. The NCAA also revealed that it is further examining the head-coaching exception to the Transfer Portal. Per its Wednesday release: "In response to another referral from the Administrative Committee, the FBS Oversight Committee discussed the head coach departure exception to the notification-of-transfer period," the NCAA statement…...
Top Florida high school quarterback transferring schools after two games
2+ mon, 2+ week ago (461+ words) Sep 12, 2025 " 6 hours ago If you're not a fan of the college transfer portal, the Florida high school scene is going to blow your mind. A few weeks back, Teddy Bridgewater was suspended after controversially asking for donations after spending his own money to fund some unconventional things for his state championship Miami Northwestern (FL) program last season. Those unconventional expenses included things like a mobile recovery service and paying for Uber rides for players. Bridgewater was issued a suspension, and shortly after that decision came down, the veteran NFL quarterback decided to come out of retirement and re-enter the league, signing with the Tampa Bay Bucs. As with any head coach leaving a program coming off a state title, Bridgewater's decision was expected to have a ripple effect on the team's roster. The team entered the season led by senior…...

Eli Drinkwitz has one major question for Kalen DeBoer before Alabama-Missouri game
1+ mon, 3+ week ago (416+ words) Oct 8, 2025 " 3 hours ago Ever quick-witted, Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz on Wednesday proved he's capable in the role of reporter when he asked a question of Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer." Drinkwitz, whose standing place in the weekly Southeastern Conference coaches' Zoom is immediately preceding that of Alabama's Kalen DeBoer, first closed his own session with a question about a question. "Can I ask the first question of Kalen DeBoer or not?," Drinkwitz asked unflappable SEC host Chuck Dunlap. "I just want to ask if he's going to wear that black hoodie. "I call it the 'Black Hoodie of Death.'" Following a standard, innocuous first question to DeBoer in the ensuing 10-minute session, a nonplused Dunlap returned to the phone lines and welcomed in "Eliah Drinkwitz of Missouri Athletics" with the next question." "Are you going to wear that black hoodie on…...
